Amisha Patel's vocation disappear from Bollywood

Amisha Patel career vanished from Bollywood

I have always liked Ameesha Patel quite a bit (she seems to have changed her name from Amisha to Ameesha). She’s one of the few actresses who gave a hat-trick of successes right off the bat.

Her debut was the blockbuster Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai. After that she had a major success in Tollywood with Badri, and then another blockbuster in Hindi with Gadar: Ek Prem Katha.

Sadly though, it looks like her career has run aground today. Part of it is simply a function of old Father Time - In Bollywood as in Hollywood, as actresses age, their ability to get leading roles evaporates.

Part of it though has to do with her own personal and career choices. I don’t know if many people remember this, but she used to date the director, Vikram Bhatt. When that relationship soured, I think the resulting drama dinged her image a bit (I remember reading insane sounding squirrely gossip about Vikram Bhatt’s ex doing black magic).

Vikram Bhatt even apparently based Bipasha’s character in Raaz 3 on Ameesha. Additionally, the Vikram Bhatt relationship caused a big strain in her relationship with her parents and brother. Lots of negative tabloid coverage ensued as a result .I bet that this negative publicity would have affected some of the movie offers coming her way.

And, on the career front, after the stupendous initial hat-trick, she came in a lot of movies that flopped. She did have a few other successes (e.g. Humraaz, Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai) but nothing remotely as big as her initial trio.

One could argue that Bhool Bhulaiyaa did nothing for her, as her role was minuscule in it. So, she got relegated to second fiddle almost overnight. Even her decision to do more bolder roles didn’t seem to pan out - that didn’t really result in any successful movies for her.

Once, you start to age, and stop having successful movies, then it just gets harder and harder to bag roles in movies that could be successes, I think that’s what happened to Ameesha Patel’s career - a lethal combo of the passage of time and continued unsuccessful movies.

Conclusion

Now, her career is pretty much stalled - I won’t say, ended because she had a release in 2018 after 2013. But still, five years without any movie releases. Sad, because I think she could still play at least secondary lead roles in movies, if not main lead roles.

But for whatever reason, that’s not happening. A pity, because seeing how fit and attractive she still looks, she should really be bagging more offers.

Hopefully, that’ll still happen. She seems like she’s active in film circles, so I wouldn’t rule her out completely.
